hereford road

We figured we should start with one of our favorites on Mystery Meat, so we thought long and hard and decided to make our first post about Hereford Road. Just kidding, we didn't spend any time thinking about it. It was the obvious choice.

This place has all the requirements to get a Mystery Meat gold star or A+ or whatever is the mark you get for being awesome. This time we went for lunch, although we highly recommend their dinner menu as well. They have a seasonal menu that changes daily.  When we say seasonal, we mean verrrrrrrrry seasonal - like, you could still feel the artichoke's heart beating! (ba dum bump)

The layout and feel of Hereford is very refined without being intimidating. A key factor for a Mystery Meat outing because we do not enjoy pompous attitudes. No snobs here. You walk in and are immediately hit with an effortless ambience. There is an open kitchen to your left, and the chefs working in the kitchen are the first to welcome you inside.

We love design, so anyone that shares our passion will appreciate the intelligent floor plan of this stylish restaurant.  As we said there is an open kitchen to your immediate left and red leather love-seat style booths to the right that lead into the main dining area.  This really utilizes the limited space without making it feel cramped or awkward.  The main dining area is flooded with light from the unique circular sky light covering the majority of the ceiling.

Hereford Road offers a set menu for lunch (2 courses for £13, 3 courses for £15.50) as well as an a la carte menu. Cassidy ordered off the set menu, and I ordered a la carte.

STARTERS:
Cassidy ordered Smoked Cod Roe on Toast:

I ordered the Globe Artichoke and Vinaigrette:

MAINS:
Onglet with Chips & Aioli

Pot Roast Duck Leg with Carrots

Needless to say....IT WAS GOOD.

hi!

One night Cassidy was telling me about how she loved the name Mystery Meat and that we should do something with it because it was funny. We came up with the idea of a blog centered around what is not even arguably our most favorite thing to do in the world: eating. And our second most favorite thing in the world, having someone else prepare our food to eat. We love going to restaurants...and not just any restaurants, restaurants that are interesting or kitschy or beautiful or warm or all of the above. The art of eating is one that we take very seriously and it is the total package that creates the experience. We consider ourselves experts on finding amazing restaurants in london that appeal to our specific tastes (pretty much just food that tastes good).

Andddd Mystery Meat has been birthed!!! We say things like 'birthed' but not all that often. Anyways, come to this blog to find out where we are going and see interesting meals and beautiful places to take that 'special someone'. We never say things like 'special someone'.

Love,
Andrea and Cassidy

Just so you guys have an idea of what we look like, we have included a picture of us. (Cassidy is on the right)
